I came across this article in the Virginian Pilot business section of the newspaper. Although, this is still bad news, it does show however, our real estate market here in Hampton Roads, Virginia is stronger than most markets. When selling your home the old fashion way, with an agent or for sale by owner, you may find it slightly harder to sell your home fast in Norfolk, VA or to sell your home fast in Virginia Beach, VA or to sell your home fast in Chesapeake, VA or to sell your home fast in Portsmouth, VA.

WASHINGTON| Median home prices fell in more than three-quarters of U.S. cities in the second quarter, according to new data Thursday. Home sales rose in areas where the market is flooded with foreclosures, though.
Nevada and California, battered by a housing bust, were the only states to show sales gains in the second quarter compared with a year earlier, according to a report by the National Association of Realtors. Sales were down 8.1% in Virginia from a year-ago quarter. Nationally, sales fell by 16.3%. The association said median prices for existing single-family homes dropped in 155 of 150 metropolitan areas in the April to June period. In Hampton Roads, the media price was down 4.4% from a year ago, falling to $239,700.
Nationally, the median home price – the point where half the homes sold for more and half sold for less – fell to $206,500 in the second quarter, down by 7.6% from a year ago.
